Thanks for visiting Bears by Tracey!  Each bear is designed and handsewn by me, Tracey Smith, from my home in Lower Hutt, New Zealand.

I am a SAHM to my four children - a full-time occupation in itself! Therefore, bear making is very much a part-time occupation for me and I make about 35 bears a year
I created my first bear in 1997 and after making a few bears for family and friends, decided in 2002 that  I would like to start designing and selling my creations.  Like most bear artists, my designs have changed considerably since then. 

My bears have a contemporary style with their big feet and slightly bewildered expression.  My first designs measured a whopping 8 inches but my love of all things mini won out and most of my current bears measure between 2.5 and 4 inches tall.

My favorite material to work with is mohair and as each bear is entirely handsewn they are truly a labor of love.

I love to attend shows, my first being in Australia in 2005.  I have made some great friends through bear making and would love to see you at a future show!
